This painting was done in a series of experiments with acrylic glazes. I love the layers, texture and shine that they allow. As is typical for my “work” (really more like “play”), I just made shapes and found out what they looked like toward the end of the process. At some point, I thought my shapes looked like trucks reflecting their lights on wet pavement in the middle of the night.
I painted this on top of a crazy 1960’s canvas I picked up at the thrift store. It’s a nice, large piece – about 3 feet long and 16 inches high. The painting was framed in wide wood, which I painted a glossy black. A neighbor of mine (a sweet patron!) bought “Rest Stop” at one of the first shows I did after I had kids.
